Lindiwe Mayinja
College: Silliman
Class: 2019 Hometown: Pheonixville, PA Voice Part: Alto |
If you would ever like to re-experience the early 21st century, i.e. the “thousands,” and educate yourself in what can only be known as “pop culture,” hit up Lindiwe. Known to belt out "A Thousand Miles" at very high volumes with a lyrical sincerity equal only to Americans trying to simultaneously sing and remember the worlds to "The Star-Spangled Banner," nowhere else in Magevet can you find someone so passionate about The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Kim K, and who knows what else these youngins listen to these days. She is a true millennial, obsessed with the Anno Domini/Common Era (read: 1997-present). Living close enough to Philly to be dubbed a Philadoofus and armed with the cardigan-and-dress-and-tights style of a youthful ballerina, Lindiwe loves Silliman more than life itself and is one of the six original founders of the G-Spot, a weekly dance party promptly from 10:30 pm to 11 pm on Thursdays, where “G” stands for "Ga’agu’im, Shir". Her introduction to "Alleluia" has been known to make more than a few old men crack a smile, and her mellow alto voice just begs for someone to harmonize. Lindiwe has a severe love (read: obsession) with children, so if she comes near yours, just let her gently pet them. If she pulls out a bag of gummy candy, not to worry; she will gladly share.
